I knew that Sony wanted big-budget games, but I wanted originals. Silent Hill was an icon.
According to Keiichiro Toyama, the director of Slitterhead, Sony had the intention of producing "more highly budgeted games" prior to the collapse of Japan Studio.
In a recent interview with VGC, Toyama, who had previously worked for PlayStation's Japan firm and had left the company in 2020, detailed what Sony intended from the organization. The information provided by Toyama suggests that Sony was more motivated to develop high-budget video games, and the company wanted to do the same with the Japan Studio brand.
